About Jon Ian
Family-run boutique, Jon Ian, was founded by David Thomas in 1971. After many years in London, working with Kurt Geiger and serving celebrities on Bond Street, David decided to return to his roots, delivering a slice of the London fashion scene to the streets of South Wales.
What began as an independent shoe shop has grown into a destination boutique located in the chic market town Cowbridge. We are renowned for dressing women at every stage of life — from their 20s through to their 70s and 80s. Today, Jon Ian remains proudly family-owned with succession passing to David’s daughter Esther Hitchcock, maintaining the same values at its core: honesty, warmth and an unwavering commitment to helping women feel confident in what they wear.
A boutique built on trust
Many of our customers have been shopping with us for decades. Some first came to Jon Ian as young women with a weakness for fabulous shoes and now return with daughters — and even granddaughters — looking for thoughtful, well-made clothing and footwear that fits beautifully and lasts.
We believe style should never feel intimidating or trend-driven. Instead, our approach is personal, considered and always led by the individual woman in front of us. Our small team of stylists are always close by to lend their extensive advice too.
